This is the DHS chapter of a National group. The establishment of a chapter of the Société Honoraire de Français offers several benefits to a secondary French program. It provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding scholarship in the study of French, to place a special seal on the graduate’s diploma, to wear a tri-colored cord or a stole at graduation, and to wear the honor society’s official regalia. We will also use this group as the starting point for French club activities such as cultural events and service projects in the future.
FBLA is the high school division of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs
The goal of the garden club is to create an open community where people can learn how to take care of vegetable plants and houseplants.
The geography team is made up of highly motivated students who enjoy the many aspects of geography. During the year, we practice various topics and compete in geography tournaments throughout CT.

Finding a community where girls at DHS can explore opportunities could help them seriously consider a myriad of amazing and exciting career paths as they unfold. "
Community Environmental Action
LGBTQIA and Allies are welcome…..discussing current topics, promoting equality, advocacy and friendship. It is a safe space for student to gather and to have a voice. Monthly activities are planned through out the school year.
Journalism practicum for student newspaper, including reporting, writing, selling advertising, managing ad accounts, photography, editorials, layout, sports, news, features. The club is for freelance journalists who want to write articles to be posted in the school newspaper: www.hattersherald.com.
Healthcare career associated competitive events, educational opportunities, community service, and activities.
To educate fellow students on the inner workings of the stock market, the diversification of money, understanding how capitalism in the United States works. We will run market simulations, discuss factors that cause booms and busts and discuss smart financial decisions to make as a young adult.
Italian Club is for Italian students or anyone who would like to learn about the Italian language and culture. If you would like to learn how to communicate in Italian, cook (and eat) Italian dishes, listen to Italian music, Italian games, watch movies and help to plan cultural field trips. Learn about Italian scholarships and much more.
Jazz Band is an after school activity where musicians learn a different form of music compared to what is normally played in classes. Musicians will gain useful knowledge on how to play solos over a variety of pieces and chords. Jazz Band is open to all instruments willing to join, each instrument adds rich and different sounds to the pieces played.
A student led organization, modeled after Kiwanis International, and devoted to community service and leadership development.
Latino Club was created to promote Hispanic heritage, diversity, culture, and increase the sense of belonging and participation of Hispanic students in extracurricular at Danbury High School.
Marching Band is an after-school activity consisting of our common band instruments and color guard. Each season is unique to its own music, show design, and performance. The music is learned, memorized, and combined with the Drill (mentioned below). This results in the shows you may see during football halftimes. However, the Marching Band does not only perform at football games. It, like other sports, has its competitions, where the band travels up against other schools' Marching Bands. Overall, Marching Band is a great way to improve your skills as a musician and ability to work as a team. Joining Marching Band requires NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE in an instrument or in any color guard activities and always results in many opportunities and huge growth as a person and a musician.
Students will practice all HS math levels and compete with 20 other high schools in Fairfield County.
We explore medical careers along with the requirements needed for specific careers in the medical field. We have guest speakers, a lot of them are medical students, that discuss their pathways and challenges with medical school, along with specific courses you should take as you embark upon a career in the medical field. Additionally, we participate in community service projects.
Mock Trial is open to all students especially for anyone interested in criminal and civil law. We will work on a specific case and you will take on different roles, and learn the skills needed to conduct a court case.
Model United Nations (MUN) is a club where we debate real-world issues from the perspective of different countries from around the world. Students may select a new country for each topic and learn about geopolitics from perspectives far beyond just that of the USA. The goal is to simulate the United Nations and work together to find solutions to issues of today. If you like current events, debating, and politics, then this is the club for you!

The National Art Honor Society promotes the visual at DHS and in the Danbury Community through volunteerism. NAHS promotes connectivity to like minded art peers! Opportunities for leadership experience, community service, art shows, and scholarships.
The National English Honor Society (NEHS), founded and sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, is the only national organization exclusively for high school students who, in the field of English, merit special note for past and current accomplishments.
As stated in the NHS handbook, "The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921."
Mu Alpha Theta is the National Math Honor Society at DHS. Students with a love of math who have maintained a 3.0 GPA in their math courses can apply for membership into our nationally recognized honor society! We meet on the 1st Thursday of each month to celebrate and create opportunities to share our love of math with others. There is a required number of community service hours per semester, and events throughout the year to help you accomplish these hours.
The Nutmegger is Danbury High School's own Literary Magazine which is run by dedicated and talented group of students. Students submit literary and artistic creations with the opportunity to be published and printed in the Spring collection each year. Club starts second semester on agreed upon dates. Preparing todays students to be tomorrows Leaders. Supports students instruction in dealing with communication, social, leadership and a variety of other human resource issues that one experiences when in a leadership management position.
Students work with school digital cameras they borrow to take pics at school events, sporting events, and also do activities as a group after school/in flex.
Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for high school juniors and seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. The club focuses on the teaching, learning, and promotion of the social studies. All potential members must go through an application process before being officially initiated.
Competitive Vex Robotics Team 5150. Students must be enrolled in Honors Robotics or have taken the course previously.

The purpose of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize students' high achievement in Spanish and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic studies. The DHS chapter is dedicated to creating opportunities for collaboration between Spanish-speaking communities at the local and global levels. Members of the society have leadership opportunities and are eligible for scholarships, certificates of achievement, and submitting work for publication in the student journal Albricias. El propósito de la Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica es reconocer los altos logros de los estudiantes en español y promover la continuidad del interés en los estudios hispanos. El capítulo de DHS está dedicado a crear oportunidades de colaboración entre las comunidades de habla hispana a nivel local y global. Los miembros de la sociedad tienen oportunidades de ejercer liderazgo y son elegibles para becas, certificados de logros académicos y la presentación de trabajos para ser publicados en la revista estudiantil Albricias.
"In 2019, there were over 10.8 million workers in STEM occupations within the U.S. (Census Bureau), however, ONLY 28% of this percent were women. With this disparity our club 'STEMinists' will creates a safe space for the empowerment of women in efforts to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math! We bring awareness and solutions to the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields, as well as participate in a hands-on activity, find internship opportunities, and participate in other fun events! We will meet during flex but may have some after school activities."
The TLHC is a Danbury-based club that involves students from DHS and Abbott Tech as well as a prevention specialist from MCCA. The focus of this group is to spread the message of substance use prevention and positive mental health throughout DHS as well the Danbury community.
Tri-M, or Modern Music Masters, is an honor society at Danbury High School centered around music-making and collaboration through music. All musicians of any grade level (9-12) are welcome to audition and participate in numerous performances organized and sponsored by the club.
Winter Guard is a performance activity in which teams of individuals work to create and perform complex sequences of dance, music, and use of special equipment, such as sabres,rifles, and flags, to compete by division. Winter Guard s similar to outdoor color guard (marched with a marching band), except the performances are indoors on gymnasium floors. The traditional marching band music heard during fall season is replaced with a recording of various musical genres. Participation in fall guard/marching band is encouraged but not required.
A safe place to write and share poetry among a group of dedicated students. Each year, we work together to plan and perform WORD FEST, which is a celebration of DHS poets and poetry.
All aspects of designing publication including layout, page design, photography decisions and writing. We do not have a set day to meet. Students are encouraged to sign up for Mr. Porcelli's flex as he assumes they are in excellent academic standing. Students are also welcome to sign up for YPP with Mr. Porcelli during a free period to work on the book. We meet on an ad-hoc basis as determined by deadlines. Typically we will meet for 30 - 60 minutes every few weeks.
Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps
Amnesty International is the Danbury High School chapter of the global organization that campaigns to end human rights abuse. We focus on human rights issues that relate on a national, regional, and global level. We host events and also participate in activities around Connecticut. We have meetings during flex and sometimes after school for events.
The DHS Art Club allows for students to share a common interest in the creation of art. Art Club promotes imagination, creativity, and art production. We focus on materials and projects that are beyond what you would do in a regular art class. Students are able to experiment with various art materials in a personalized, open and exploratory manner.
Asian Club is for anyone who is interested in learning about various Asian cultures. We learn about food, games, history, language, and other parts of Asian cultures through a variety of activities and games after school. Asian Club is an open space for everyone and anyone. You do not need to be Asian to join.
Student run Book Club where students decide what to read/watch/listen to, then meet to discuss weekly!
A fun way to relax once a month where students can enjoy each other's company by learning new card games.
All skill levels welcome. Goal is to improve the logic and thinking of team members. Top ranked team members play against other schools in the Danbury Area Scholastic Chess League.

Musical Production
Our purpose is to spread awareness about the issues affecting children in our community and the world. Our club aims to educate ourselves and the community about problems facing children today and look for ways to improve the experiences of children through club discussions, activism campaigns, and fundraising for UNICEF.
To create a club where people can bond over videogames and share the competitive spirit in games with others. Gaming is an excellent foothold into the world of computing and would allow students to explore and spark their interest in programming, 3d modeling, and animation through the process of gaming.
The Women’s Empowerment Club’s mission is to address gender inequality issues through presentations and education, as well as to drive change through community service. This club will encourage women and men to gain a better understanding of womanhood and teach true authentic femininity. We would like to bring awareness about the actions all individuals can take to make a positive impact on the feminist community. And empower the girls at our school to let them know they are strong future leaders of our community. We strongly believe that feminism is for everybody; and we can make a difference in our school, community, and our peers.
Fashion Club gives students a chance to learn the ins and outs of the fashion world and allows for their creativity and collaboration skills to work on various projects around the school and community.
Future Voters of Danbury is a student-led organization that aims to pre-register and register both youth individuals and adults, educate youth about the significance of voting, and inform the youth of how beneficial a singular vote can be for their community. - In the upcoming year, we will emphasize getting people to register for the 2024 election and local elections in 2025. Our hope being able to increase the youth by 50% in Danbury and not only inspire youth to vote, but adults as well. - Future Voters of Danbury initiative was created to register new youth voters Danbury with over 89,000+ residents. Our organization's main ambition is to get the youth rates up by 50% and to reach over 55,000+ city residents (including 15,000+ youth residents). Future Voters of Danbury promotes civil engagement and empowers individuals to vote in local, state, and national elections. More specifically, the highly anticipated Presidential election of 2024
The Young Democrats of Danbury High School aim to increase the civic engagement of students and allow them opportunities to work with real candidates and real campaigns. We will work with the Democratic Town Committee in helping volunteer and support candidates. During times of the political season when there are no elections present, we will engage in deep intellectual discussions about issues that face our local and national political sphere.
